California is in the midst of a water supply shortage. Businesses and residents are being asked to cut back on water use. Today it is more important than ever for us to do our part to save water. The Water Smart Hotel Program was specifically designed to reduce water use in Orange County hotels and motels. Through this program, qualifying hotels and motels can receive free indoor and outdoor water use surveys, customized facility reports with water saving recommendations, and rebates on select water efficient devices.

Since the start of the program in February 2009, WaterWise Consulting has surveyed numerous hotels of different sizes for The Water Smart Hotel Program. Below, is an average of how much water different size hotels can save by participating in this free program.

Requirements:

• Toilets using 1.6 gallons per flush (gpf) or greater or,
• 10,000 square feet of landscaping or,
• A dedicated landscape irrigation meter
