Professional Series
The WaterWise training program for professionals offers a practical approach to maintenance and management of irrigation systems. This series is taught through the use of multimedia techniques such as PowerPoint presentations, photos, graphics, animation and video clips.
The series also teaches the participants through various hands-on practice sessions and case studies. Participants leave having learned practical skills, which can be immediately applied to their everyday work. Furthermore, all classes in the series are also taught in Spanish for the benefit of the Spanish-speaking landscape professional.
Sprinkler Basics
This hands-on four-hour class will cover the basics of sprinkler systems for landscape irrigation. This is not a design class and it is recommended for beginners in irrigation system maintenance as well as landscape maintenance personnel. This class will provide the student with the knowledge and confidence to fix common sprinkler problems and conduct basic system upgrades. more info
Irrigation Valve Troubleshooting
This is a four-hour class that incorporates many exercises and hands-on activities. The Sprinkler Basics is a great preparation for this course. The class includes sections on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting. Practical knowledge acquired in this class can easily be put to use by your company’s field personnel. more info
Watering Schedules & Controller Programming
This is four-hour class shows participants the basic concepts of scheduling. The class does not go into soil-plant-water relationships or any other technical aspects. This class is designed to make it easy for field personnel to formulate an irrigation schedule and to put that schedule into a controller. more info
Fertilizer Materials and Application
This intermediate class will provide the participant with the fundamentals on fertilizers. The class will demonstrate the various fertilizers commonly used in the landscape industry, including fertilizers for turf, trees and shrubs, and specialty fertilizers. Included in the class is also a section on fertilizer application, including calibration rates and the different types of equipment used to apply fertilizer. Horticultural Practices
This four-hour class will cover some of the fundamentals of horticulture. It will provide the participants with an understanding of theory aspects as well as practical information that he or she can use in the field. more info
