Residential Water Survey
WaterWise Consulting, Inc. (WaterWise) proudly introduces its new Residential Water Survey (RWS) Training Workshop for Agencies. The Department of Health Services, Division of Drinking Water and Environmental Management, has authorized WaterWise to issue up to 8 Contact Hours to RWS class participants.

The RWS training consists of preparing water purveyors staff to evaluate indoor water use in addition to assess residential landscape and irrigation conditions. A well-trained and experienced surveyor will be able to communicate to the homeowner the deficiencies in their indoor and outdoor water use and provide information for making their overall water use more efficient.

WaterWise will teach the surveyors the following:
• Importance of gathering site information properly.
• How to communicate major problems to the homeowner during the survey.
• How to develop and deliver reports to customers in a timely manner after the site survey.
• Tips on what and how to distribute local water agency information to promote efficient water use.

The Workshop takes place over the course of two days.
Day 1 consists of an in class presentation with a class role playing exercise which will go through various scenarios that can sometimes occur while conducting the survey. The participant will have a chance to interact with a partner and come up with a solution to the scenario given.

Day 2 is conducted at a predetermined residential site. Attendees will carry out hands-on exercises on what was learned in the classroom, such as appropriate interaction with the homeowner, measuring flow rates, visual inspections, evaluating the irrigation system and landscape, and much more. They will conduct a full survey from start to finish.
CII Water Efficiency Audit
If you serve commercial, industrial and institutional water customers, then you know that these non-residential users can account for a large percentage of water use.  Despite this, these customers can be difficult to serve with traditional conservation programs.  So how can your agency work effectively with the CII sector?

Now you can learn how to help your CII customers.  WaterWise offers the CII Workshop where you learn how to conduct a basic CII water use audit.  You’ll benefit from the experience WaterWise has gained conducting hundreds of CII water audits in all kinds of business facilities.

Our workshop, Water Efficiency Audits: The Basics of Auditing Commercial, Industrial, & Institutional Facilities, is intended as a one-day introduction to the CII audit process for water agency personnel involved with water conservation.  It is a full-day learning event packed with useful and practical information.  The curriculum assumes basic water conservation knowledge.  Detailed technical knowledge is not required.

Here’s an outline of the workshop:
• General discussion of CII water use
• The value of water audits for the sector and for agencies
• Types of CII facilities and categories of water-using technology
• The Nine Basic Steps of CII Auditing
• The Tenth Step: Follow-up
• Details of the audit process
• Lunch Break
• Water-using Fixtures & Processes
• Current Standard Technology
• Water-efficient Technology
• Landscape water use & opportunities
• CII audit report
• Review & Conclusion

If conducting your own audit program is impractical, this course will at give you the understanding you need to supervise a contractor or consultant hired to provide the service for you, or to create an RFP for those services.
Large Landscape (LL) Surveying Training Workshop for Agencies
WaterWise introduces its Large Landscape (LL) Survey Training Workshop for Agencies. The workshop is one day of training. It consists of an in-class presentation and a full outdoor evaluation of the irrigation system and landscape. The LL workshop focuses on preparing water agency staff to evaluate landscape and irrigation conditions. Participants learn how to educate property owners/managers on landscape management and efficient water use practices.

The training will cover the following:

• The importance of gathering site information properly
• How to communicate major irrigation and landscape problems
• How to develop and deliver reports to customers in a timely manner
• The Attendees will also learn the importance of identifying plant types, irrigation system components and the problems that can occur.
