10th Annual San Bernardino County Water Conference

The key to assembling a solution-driven sustainable future is to look at past and present challenges and successes. Water conservation has unintentionally affected builders, cities and homeowners. It is important to maintain an open dialogue on the topic and discover efficient water management practices to accommodate affected groups

Last month marked the 10th annual San Bernardino County Water Conference held at the Ontario Convention Center. In attendance were major players in local conservation policies and practices, such as local water agencies, government officials, water experts, business leaders and key stakeholders. The event was sponsored by many entities such as the San Bernardino County Flood Control District, Mojave Water Agency, Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority, City of Ontario and Toro Company.

The five-hour-long conference kicked off with an award ceremony, various exhibitions and four

insightful panels. Among the panelists were Mary Ann Dickinson, president and CEO of Alliance for Water Efficiency; Kirby Brill, general manager at Mojave Water Agency; Boykin Witherspoon, director of the Water Resources Institute at California State University, San Bernardino; and Lou Desmond, KMET 1490 AM radio personality.

Panelists discussed ways for young generations to pursue careers in water, the challenges water agencies face due to conservation implementation and tips on crisis communication with water customers and stakeholders.
